Flower Arrangements

When choosing or creating flower arrangements there are several general rules to follow to ensure that the arrangement looks perfect for the occasion. There are also several steps to follow to ensure that the flowers in the arrangement will last as long as possible. The longer they last and the more beautiful the arrangement, the more it will be admired and appreciated by guests of an event or as a gift for a special someone.

One basic rule to follow when making flower arrangements is to always cluster the small flowers into groups. Small flowers, particularly in large arrangements may get lost and buried by the other larger flowers. Also, always select a container that will best show the flowers off, whether you want to highlight the colors of the flowers, the shape of the flowers or their unique blossoms.

To keep flower arrangements fresher for longer follow these rules: Cut garden flowers during cool weather (either early in the morning or late in the evening.  Immerse the stems in cool water for about an hour before arranging them. Cut the stems at an angle and re-cut them when the bottoms begin to brown. Change the water every two days and sprinkle flower food in them.
